The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has commented on the statement of American actor and vocalist Jared Leto of the rock band Thirty Seconds to Mars. He said he wanted to perform in Russia and Ukraine when “these problems” were over, referring to the full-scale Russian invasion.
“Jared Leto’s sense of ‘Russian energy’ and his desire to perform in Russia is an insult to those who sacrifice their lives to defend freedom,” the Foreign Ministry emphasized.
They added that there can be no appeasement of Russia when it continues to try to solve the “problem” of Ukraine’s existence.
Jared Leto expressed his desire to perform in St. Petersburg, Moscow, and Kyiv at a concert in Serbia. The large Russian audience supported him with loud applause. The Ukrainian audience, on the other hand, was outraged by the singer’s statements.
Jared Leto gained popularity for his roles in Requiem for a Dream, American Psycho, Dallas Buyers Club (for which he won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor), and Suicide Squad. In addition to his acting career, Leto is the frontman of the rock band Thirty Seconds to Mars, which has released several successful albums and won numerous awards. Leto is also known for his eccentric style.
