Ukrainian athlete breaks personal record in hammer throw three times and enters top 5 at World Championships

Ukrainian athlete Polina Dzerozhynska took fifth place in the hammer throw at the U20 World Championships in the USA. During her performance in the final, the athlete broke her personal record three times.

Dzerozhynska reached the decisive round thanks to her only qualifying attempt of 64.39 m. In the final, the fight for medals was accompanied by a constant improvement in the Ukrainian thrower’s results. She updated her record from 65.78 to 67.01 meters.

Despite a series of record throws, the high level of competition among the participants did not allow the Ukrainian to secure a place on the podium. She finished the tournament in fifth place. For Dzerozhynska, this was the second final of the U20 World Championships in her career (in 2024 in Lima, she took fourth place).
