Ukraine has officially introduced the Magura MV11, the world’s first purpose-built drone aircraft carrier, during the Independence Day parade on August 25, 2026. This innovative 7-meter vessel, designed to launch airborne strike drones, represents a significant advancement in naval warfare technology.
Manufactured by UFORCE, the Magura MV11 is a 2,200-kilogram payload mothership that has been in development since 2023. Initially utilized by Ukrainian naval commandos for kamikaze strikes against Russian maritime targets, the MV11 now expands its role to that of a mobile naval base, capable of launching multiple drones simultaneously.
Design and Capabilities
The MV11 is the first sea drone designed specifically to carry and deploy unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) from its onboard systems. With a payload capacity of 2,200 kilograms, the vessel can operate autonomously for up to seven days. Developed in collaboration with a research bureau in Portugal and funded by allied nations, the MV11 is poised to enhance Ukraine’s maritime operational capabilities.
